CAx Model Decomposition (Phase II)

Project status: Complete

Thrust area: New Design Paradigms and Processes

Research team: Edward Red

Computer-Aided Engineering applications (CAx) collaborators use still only allow a single user to check out and make changes to a part at a given time. Though most of these software applications come with some collaborative tools, they are limited to simple tasks such as screen sharing and instant messaging. Phase II - Develop methods for multi-user specification (how to decompose CAx projects among multi-users) and determine how to partition design space so that multi-users distributed over local and global locations collaborate using client-server (C/S) architectures, applying constraints to manage their interactions.
