Phoebe’s Field is a collaborative project where science, design, technology and education meet using metaphor as a bridge and a strategy. It is a proposal for a traveling science exhibition based on a children’s book–a story of fantasy and the science of electromagnetic, wind velocity, gravitational and acoustic fields. The project promotes the education of science and technology on two levels. The first is an approach to helping young people understand the concept of fields through narrative and metaphor in an exhibition. The second is the process of designing a science exhibition with a team of university students, faculty, and a multidisciplinary panel of advisers.
