Computer Assisted Engineering Creativity for Geometric Shape Design

One of the challenges of the creative process of geometric shape design is that the search space for the solution is too large - there is infinite number of possible geometric shapes. We created a computer program to assist the creativity of automobile exterior designers in search for the ideal geometric shape. This project established a quantitative metric to evaluate perceptual 3D shape similarity. It also developed an innovative method to support engineering creativity of geometric shape design, and evaluate the effective of the method for supporting engineering design.
