The flexible and adaptive process model of engineering design process enables industrial decision makers to be more effective and efficient in proactive management on design process, as well as passive reaction to error situations and unpredictable external events. The process model can not only facilitate the generation of fault tree through its automatic fault derivation mechanism, but also can guide decision makers through numerous alternative courses of accomplishing tasks when facing uncertainties in resource availabilities and in human capabilities, as well as can facilitate their communication and resource sharing.
