In the design and manufacture of high-performance parts and assemblies, numerous components must be engineered precisely and within small tolerances. We have designed and evaluated visualization techniques such as composable transfer functions and overlays for comparing: differences between 3D surfaces/shapes, object attributes plus mined and statistical results, and data provenance.
