Supporting Innovative Ideation Behavior in Problem Exploration

Project status: Current

Thrust area: New Design Paradigms and Processes

Research team: Seda McKilligan

Innovation is vital to our competitiveness in a global economy, and to take up this challenge, engineering practitioners must design solutions for global challenges. One significant barrier to creating innovative designs is the lack of tools to help engineers look beyond obvious ideas to identify more interesting and relevant problems. We intend to address this barrier by understanding and supporting ideation flexibility in engineering practice by encouraging a richer exploration of the problem space.
