One of the biggest challenges facing industries nowadays is how to improve the reliability of new product designs while shortening the product development cycle and reducing the product development cost. The objective of this project is to investigate new methods to accelerate reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) of engineered systems with multiple inter-dependent components. The methods will assist design engineers not only in achieving a system reliability target while accounting for various sources of uncertainty, but also in shortening the development cycle and reducing the development cost.
