Production of metal parts with AM processes involves a significant disconnect between the modeling of a part on CAD and its production. This is a very expensive problem to industry that discourages use of the advanced AM capabilities. A new software tool in development by FTL Labs supported by UMASS can solve this problem by adequately informing CAD operators of predicted AM process outcomes.
