Currently, design team interactions are constrained by geographical and technological factors. Existing telepresence tools for connecting engineering design teams have the following limitations: • Are cost prohibitive • Lack the feeling of “presence” or “immersion” • Lack the ability to interact with digital objects and environments in real time There is a need to improve the efficiency of distributed collaborative design efforts in order to make the concept generation and prototype creation process more timely and cost effective.
